Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about appointments, insurance, services and more. Can't find what you need? Call (908) 450-7002.

Appointments & Scheduling

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Most patients are seen within 24-48 hours of calling. For acute concerns like infections, injuries, or sudden illnesses, we often have same-day appointments available. If you're feeling very sick, call us as soon as you wake up and we'll do our best to fit you in that day.

How long are appointments?

Every appointment is scheduled for 30-60 minutes — far longer than the typical 7-10 minute visit at most practices. We believe in taking the time to truly understand your concerns and create a comprehensive treatment plan.

Can I book appointments online?

Current patients can book through our secure patient portal. New patients should call (908) 450-7002 for their first appointment so we can answer questions and get you scheduled appropriately.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please call us as soon as possible. We ask for 24-hour notice when possible so we can offer the time to another patient who needs care — but we understand emergencies happen.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

We're open Saturdays at select offices, and our Nutley office has extended weekday hours until 7pm. We don't currently offer Sunday appointments. We also offer telemedicine visits for added convenience during extended hours.

Insurance & Billing

What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept almost all major insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Horizon BCBS, United Healthcare, Cigna, Humana, Oxford, and many others. See our insurance and billing page for a complete list.

Do you accept Medicaid?

Yes. We believe everyone deserves quality healthcare regardless of insurance type, and our team is experienced navigating Medicaid coverage questions.

How much will my visit cost?

This depends on your insurance plan. We'll verify your coverage before your appointment and let you know what to expect. If you don't have insurance, call us to discuss self-pay rates — we work with all patients to provide affordable care.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

Most insurance plans and Medicare cover medical acupuncture at MyPremierMD — this is extremely rare in New Jersey. We'll verify your coverage before your first treatment.

Does insurance cover Spravato treatment for depression?

Nearly all insurance plans cover Spravato for treatment-resistant depression, and our team handles prior authorization for you — typically approved within 24-48 hours. Most patients pay between $0 (Medicaid) and $40 per session.

Services & Treatments

What's the difference between family medicine and internal medicine?

Family medicine doctors treat patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. Internal medicine doctors only treat adults. At MyPremierMD, we provide family medicine, so we can be your doctor whether you're 5 or 95.

Do you treat children?

Yes. We provide comprehensive pediatric care from birth through age 18, including well-child visits, immunizations, sick visits, and chronic condition management, plus a seamless transition to adult care.

Can you prescribe medications?

Yes. Our providers are all licensed to prescribe medications, including controlled substances like ADHD or anxiety medications when medically appropriate. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy.

Do you do house calls?

We don't typically do house calls, but we offer telemedicine visits for patients who have difficulty coming to the office. For homebound patients with complex needs, call us to discuss your situation.

What's the difference between medical acupuncture and regular acupuncture?

Medical acupuncture is performed by a physician who has completed extensive training and board certification. Dr. Boguslavsky completed 300 hours of training at UCLA's Helms Medical Institute and combines his medical training with acupuncture expertise for comprehensive treatment plans.

First Visit & New Patients

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring your photo ID, insurance card (front and back), a list of current medications, and any recent test results or medical records you have. See our first visit page for the full checklist.

How long will my first appointment take?

Plan for 45-60 minutes. This gives us time to review your complete medical history, discuss your concerns, perform a thorough physical exam, and create a treatment plan — we don't rush.

Can I complete paperwork ahead of time?

Yes. Complete our patient forms online ahead of your visit to save time at check-in, or arrive 15 minutes early to complete them in the office.

Do I need a referral from my previous doctor?

Most insurance plans don't require referrals to see a primary care doctor, though some HMO plans do. Call us at (908) 450-7002 and we'll help you determine if you need one.

Still have questions?

We're happy to talk it through.

Call us or send a message and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

Patient Portal & Communication

How do I access the patient portal?

After your first visit, we'll provide login credentials for our secure patient portal, where you can view lab results, schedule appointments, request prescription refills, and message your doctor.

Can I reach the doctor after hours?

Yes. Every patient receives Dr. Boguslavsky's personal cell phone number for true urgent concerns outside office hours. For non-urgent questions, use the patient portal and we'll respond the next business day — a level of access very rare in primary care.

How do I get prescription refills?

Request refills through the patient portal or call our office. Please allow 24-48 hours for processing; let us know if it's urgent and we'll prioritize it.

Do you offer telemedicine visits?

Yes, secure telemedicine visits via smartphone, tablet, or computer for many conditions — follow-ups, medication refills, minor concerns, and mental health consultations.

Mental Health & Specialized Services

Do I need a referral to see you for mental health care?

No referral needed. You can schedule directly with us for depression, anxiety, ADHD, or other mental health concerns — we integrate it into primary care for convenient, comprehensive treatment.

What is Spravato and how do I know if I'm a candidate?

Spravato is an FDA-approved nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression. Call (908) 450-7002 for a benefits screening — with over 30,000 treatments administered, we're one of New Jersey's most experienced Spravato providers.

How do I get a medical MJ card in New Jersey?

Schedule a medical MJ evaluation with Dr. Boguslavsky, one of NJ's first MMP-certified physicians. He'll determine if you qualify and, if so, provide certification and guide you through state registration.

Do you prescribe anxiety medications?

We prescribe anxiety medications when medically appropriate, including short-term options. For chronic anxiety, we often prefer medications safer for long-term use combined with therapy, and may recommend acupuncture as a complementary treatment.

Chronic Disease & Ongoing Care

How often do I need to come in for a chronic condition?

Typically every 3-6 months for stable conditions, more frequently if we're adjusting medications. We'll create a follow-up schedule based on your specific needs. See our chronic disease management page.

Can you manage all my chronic conditions, or do I need specialists?

We manage most chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and thyroid disorders. You don't need five different doctors for five different conditions.

Do you help with weight loss?

Yes — comprehensive weight management including nutritional counseling, exercise guidance, and weight loss medications (including GLP-1 agonists) when appropriate, using realistic, sustainable approaches.

Can you help me reduce some of my medications?

Sometimes. With significant lifestyle changes, some conditions may improve enough to reduce medications. We combine conventional medicine with acupuncture, nutrition and lifestyle medicine to optimize your health.
