Common first visit questions
How long will my first appointment take?
Plan for about 60 minutes total. We schedule longer appointments for new patients because we want to get to know you and your health history thoroughly.
Will I need lab work?
It depends on your health needs and when you last had labs done. If labs are needed, many can be drawn on-site at the time of your visit. We'll discuss what's necessary during your appointment.
Can I see the provider I want?
Yes. When you book your appointment, let us know if you'd like to see a specific provider and we'll do our best to accommodate your preference.
What if I need prescription refills right away?
Bring your current medication bottles or a list of what you're taking. We can often send refill prescriptions to your pharmacy the same day, though some medications may require a trial period with our practice first.
Will you contact my previous doctor?
Yes, with your permission. We'll request your medical records from previous providers to ensure we have your complete health history. This usually takes 1–2 weeks, so please sign the release form.
What if I'm not feeling well right now?
We offer same-day appointments for acute illnesses. When you call, let us know you're not feeling well and need to be seen urgently — we'll get you in within 24–48 hours, often the same day.
Can family members come with me?
Absolutely. We welcome family members to accompany you, especially if they help with your healthcare decisions. Just let us know at check-in so we can accommodate everyone in the exam room.
