Does insurance cover telemedicine visits?
Usually. Most plans cover video visits like office visits, and we confirm your cost before your first visit. New Jersey's telehealth coverage law applies to state-regulated plans and NJ Medicaid; Medicare and employer self-funded plans set their own rules.
Can I see my regular doctor via telemedicine?
Absolutely. When you book a telemedicine appointment, you see your regular PremierMD provider — not a random doctor you've never met. Your doctor already knows your health history, medications, and concerns.
Do I need to download a special app?
No. Our telemedicine platform works right in your web browser — no apps to download, no accounts to create. We text and email you a secure video link at your appointment time.
Can I get prescriptions through a virtual visit?
Yes. Your doctor can prescribe medications electronically during your virtual visit, sent straight to your pharmacy. Schedule II medicines, such as ADHD stimulants, also need an in-person visit before you start and at least every three months; in between, we see you monthly by video.
Is telemedicine as good as an in-person visit?
For many health concerns, yes. Mental health visits, medication management, chronic disease follow-ups, and minor acute illnesses can all be handled effectively over video, with the same 30–60 minute appointment length. The only limitation is we can't do hands-on physical exams or procedures.
Can I do my first visit as a new patient by telemedicine?
Yes, for many concerns. New patients can start with a telemedicine visit for things like mental health, medication management, and chronic disease. A complete new-patient physical or anything needing a hands-on exam or labs will need an in-person visit — often we do the intake by video first and bring you in only for the parts that require it.
