What needs an office visit

Is hormone therapy covered by insurance?
Usually, yes. Our visits are billed like any other medical visit. Generic estradiol patches, gels and pills and micronized progesterone are on most plans' drug lists at a low copay, including Medicaid plans.
Brand-name products and the newer non-hormonal medicines may need prior authorization, or your plan may want a generic tried first. We take care of that paperwork. Custom-compounded hormones and pellets are generally not covered, which is one more reason we prescribe FDA-approved products.

Telehealth questions
Can I get hormone therapy prescribed by telehealth?
Yes. After a video visit that covers your symptoms and health history, our clinicians can prescribe hormone therapy and non-hormonal medicines, and send them to your usual pharmacy. Some women also need an in-person blood pressure check or lab work first, which can be done close to home.
Is online HRT covered by insurance?
Yes. Our video visits are billed to your insurance like an office visit. We accept just about every insurance, including Medicaid, Medicare and commercial plans. Your prescriptions are covered according to your plan's drug list.
Do I have to be in New Jersey for a video visit?
Yes. Our clinicians are licensed in New Jersey, so you need to be physically in New Jersey at the time of the visit. You can join from home, work or anywhere else in the state.
What happens if I need a physical exam?
Some things, such as a pelvic exam, cervical screening or placing an IUD, need an in-person visit. You can come to our Bridgewater or Nutley office, and in most cases the same clinician you see online will see you in person.
Where do I get lab work done?
Blood can be drawn at our Bridgewater or Nutley office, or we can send the order to a commercial lab near you. Results come back to the same clinician, who goes over them with you.
How do video visits work?
You get a link before your appointment and join from a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. There is nothing to download. Our telemedicine guide walks through it step by step.
Will I see the same person each time?
Yes. You are matched with one of our clinicians and follow up with the same person, whether by video or in the office. That continuity is one of the main reasons patients choose us.
