Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression who haven't found relief from traditional antidepressants. It works differently than typical antidepressants by targeting NMDA receptors in the brain. It's administered in our office under medical supervision in 2-hour monitored sessions. We've administered over 20,000 Spravato treatments since 2019.
Your first visit is a consultation, not a treatment day. We'll verify your insurance coverage, review your depression history, discuss whether Spravato is right for you, and answer all your questions. This takes about 45 minutes. If you're a good candidate, we'll schedule your first treatment session. Actual Spravato treatment sessions are 2 hours: you self-administer the nasal spray, then we monitor you for approximately 2 hours before you can leave with your companion.
In addition to Spravato treatment, our Chatham center offers psychiatric medication management and therapeutic counseling for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. These services are available via telemedicine, making it convenient for any of our patients in North-central New Jersey. Our providers work collaboratively to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored to your needs.
Yes! Psychiatric medication management and therapeutic counseling appointments can be conducted via secure telemedicine from your smartphone, tablet, or computer. This is especially convenient for our NYC patients who can't always commute to Hoboken. However, Spravato treatments must always be done in-person at our center due to FDA monitoring requirements.
Yes, most commercial insurance plans, and even Medicare and Medicaid, cover Spravato. We've achieved a 95% insurance approval rate. Our dedicated insurance team will verify your coverage before your first treatment and handle all prior authorization paperwork. Yes, we do have Spravato appointments on Monday evenings, 5-7PM. On Saturdays, our Chatham patients can be seen in Bridgewater, Morristown or Hoboken - each of these treatment centers is open for weekend hours.
